Student AwardThe winners of the 2007 Student Paper Competition were announced during the IASD 24th Annual International Conference,  July 1, 2007 at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California. 

Category I - Quantitative Research (Science)

Winner: Peter Simor, "Emotional Regulation in Dreaming"

Runner-up: Miloslava Kozmova, "Body Image and Anorexia Nervosa"

Category II - Qualitative Research (Arts, Literature, Humanities)

Winner: Patricia Spangler, "Therapist Dreams about Clients: A Qualitative Investigation of Themes, Exploration, and Use"

Runner-up: Melody Conroy, "Unraveling the Darkness: Dreams in Malory’s Le Morte D’Arthur"

 


Thanks to all who send in submissions by the April 15th deadline.

Members of the IASD Student Awards Committee will judge submissions based on their overall quality, and on the originality and importance of their contributions to the field of Dream Studies. IASD will announce the authors of winning presentations, as well as authors of presentations earning honorable mentions, at an awards ceremony at the IASD 2007 Conference at Sonoma State University, Rohnert Park ,CA.

Student Awards

Thanks to a generous grant from an anonymous donor, IASD once again offers graduate, undergraduate and high school students the opportunity to compete for $500.00 awards in two different categories: The first for the best student submission of original scientific research on dreams and dreaming.  The second is for the best submission of original historical, literary, artistic, or theoretical research.

All participants must submit their presentations in electronic form,
preferably through email ( office@asdreams.org ) or if necessary by mailing the files copied to a CD or a DVD to the IASD office by April 15, 2007  (IASD-Student Research, 1672 University Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94703 ) Mark on any mailed boxed "OK to leave on left porch"

  • Participants should submit text in MS Word, and artwork in .jpg, .tif, or .pdf formats. Participants can also electronically submit videos in AVI formats, or music in MIDI or MPS formats. 

  • Submissions must include a copy of your student ID. Alternatively, you can fax a copy to the IASD Office at 1-209-724-0889, or scan and email attachment to office@asdreams.org. Send a note or cover letter that this is for the IASD Student Research Award.

Participants agree that should they receive an award, they will make their presentations available to the IASD membership, either by presenting at the 2007 or 2008 IASD Conference or the 2007 PsiberDreaming Conference, and/or through publication in a future issue of Dreaming, DreamTime, or by making their presentation available online on the IASD website. Note that winners may meet the criteria of the competition, but not the separate criteria of the IASD publications. Participants are not guaranteed publication.
