Title of work:    Dream Fairy
Medium:           Computer Graphic, using Bryce 5.5 and Daz Studio from Daz 3d.
Date Created:   December 2005

The Dream Fairy watches over children in the dream world. Occasionally, though, a bad dream will sneak past her. When my children would wake from a bad dream, I would call for the Dream Fairy, and tell them she would watch over them very carefully. Not only that, but to help push aside any other bad dreams, she would sprinkle the child with some extra nice dreams to replace the bad one and keep them sleeping well and happy.

The Dream Fairy was a constant companion when my children were young. She helped them through their bad dreams, and offered them comfort. On nights when they might be apprehensive for some reason, we would call the dream fairly to watch over their dreams and be sure no bad ones got through.

This picture is a representation of that dream fairy, but she has evolved through the years, and now not only works for children, but remains with us into adulthood. I may have created her, but she took on a life of her own, and occasionally, I sense her presence, and it is comforting to know she is around.

Title of work:    Reaching
Medium:           Computer Graphic, using Bryce 5 from Daz 3d.
Date Created:  April 2005

Reaching is a representation of a whole category of dreams that I rarely record, as in most cases, I am exhausted and lost upon waking, and could never describe it.

Often these dreams involve an old house, somewhat Victorian in style. there are many rooms, and passages, and stairways going both up and down, like a maze. I know that if I can just figure out which passage to take, which stairs to climb, I will reach the top. It seems very important to reach the top level, but the more I struggle the harder it gets.

Most of the time, I wake before that point, but twice I have reached the top of the house, and found myself in the open night air, wind in my face, feeling as if all I had to do was raise my arms and believe, and I would be uplifted into the night, flying free.

I have not yet flown in a dream. But I have come close, and that gives me hope.
