Title of Work:     Dream Scape
Medium:             Paintography (Digital photo transfer plus acrylic paint)
Date Created:     2006

Something in a dream tips you off, the out of place, can’t possibly be thing that lets you see that you are in a dream:  Wow I’m dreaming! Lucidity can come and go so fast.  The feeling in the dream was real and yet not quite, I’m in the woods but not quite, I’m inside looking out at the woods….parts of the image is in focus others blurr in and out, the colors are not quite right or are they?  Then I see the ladder and a little door in the tree…..That’s not supposed to be there…A key to dream lucidity…..I see it, get excited and wake up…..How frustrating.

Title of Work:     Broken
Medium:             Paintography (Digital photo transfer plus acrylic paint)
Date Created:     2007

I’m walking in a forest on the top of a building, I come to the edge and look down.  The world as I know it is ruin.  A system that chugs and churns, wheels turn, pipes spew, tubes suck, broken glass everywhere.  There is blood, I’m bleeding.  I look down again and see the reflection of the forest in a broken ice puddle. My escape route, back to the forest, from this nightmare.

Title of Work:     Firewriting
Medium:             Paintography (Digital photo transfer plus acrylic paint)
Date Created:     2007

In the dark of the night a story is being told.  I can see the images, I can detect a thread.  A sentence appears, period.   A text is being written in the dark sky, period.   I can feel the soft glow of the beginning, a blue glow backdrops the writer.  The expression gets intense and excited, fired up. Period.  Swinging left and right a moment of pause, the story ends, period.  When I awake I know that my dream is telling me something.  I feel it.  Like an unknown language I must decode, decipher the meaning of each word, phrase to try to understand the story and its meaning.

Title of Work:     Moonlight Ladder Sunset
Medium:             Paintography:  digital photo transfers plus acrylic paint
Date Created:     2006

After the death of my father dreams were affected.  This piece is a reflection of the themes and feelings that appeared in my dreams.  Sitting on the water I watch the sunset (a life is fading, faded, gone)  I am searching for a point of view, I see into a dark peeling paint window one moment, the next seeing from within and want to find perspective outward once again.  My world and point of view is tipped on its side, finding balance is imperative.  Sitting on the water I look behind the moon is rising as the sun sets, two opposites sit balanced but for a fleeting moment before I again am tipped on my side.  I am in a deep hole, dirt all around, a dark place, there is a ladder. I see it but can not reach it.  Knowing it is there is good.
