 ASD 2002 Dream Telepathy Contest

The Telepathically Broadcast Image Selection #5, Pegasus!

Congratulations to Dieter, who definitely had the most solid hit - the image (even though misidentified as two ravens fighting), the word "Pegasus", and the number 5. And most telling, the fact that Dieter reported feeling "totally convinced it was #5, pegasus, even though there's not much

room for telepathy in my world view."

Dieter, I'd say you may need to expand your world view a bit . . . <g>

Although neither Richard Wilkerson and Rita Dwyer selected Pegasus as their choice I believe both solidly tuned into the target, but somewhat obliquely - read "The Sender's Story" below.

The Sender's Story

On Saturday, after about noon, I tried to avoid anything that might serve as "day residue" - TV, movies, fictional books, etc. I didn't even meditate, as my meditation involves specific imagery which I felt might confuse the issue. At about 9 PM PST I rolled a ten sided di twice. On my first roll it came up "6" for "Category 6", "Mythological Creatures". On the second roll, it came up "5" for "Object #5" in that category - Pegasus. (To quote Dieter's dream report; "so there were the counts 5 and 6 - I'd say just a coincidence." Right. <g>)

Pegasus immediately reminded me of the "Pastoral Symphony" scenes in Fantasia, as it had initially when I added the image to the image/word data base two years earlier for "The Lucid Mutual Dream Protocol." I have a copy of Fantasia on video, and after retrieving it, I considered whether I should watch the "Pastoral Symphony" section again. The cover of the video shows Mickey Mouse in his magician's garb - a favorite image of mine - I even have a small plastic figure of Mickey as the Sorcerer's Apprentice in my office, as well as other collectibles of Mickey in this role - from T-Shirts to a music box. I decided not to look at the movie - even fast forwarding through it would expose me to too much extraneous imagery from other animations, and in any case, I knew I could remember the scenes with the flying winged horses - including the black Pegasus stallion/father fairly well anyway.

However, Fantasia certainly does rate as my #1 association with Pegasus, and I used this strong association in generating animated imagery (Pegasus flying through the skies) when not sending the image "straight", as a static pattern of black and white. In any case, throughout the night I focused not only on Pegasus as such, but on Pegasus within the context of a Fantasia background theme of mythology and magic. (Lucy Gillis may have picked up on this flying aspect). Also I used a lighted world globe as a visualization focus for sending a flying Pegasus image across the United States, and around the world.

Now in her dream, Rita wrote that a "mythical/cartoon character figurine" showed up, brought to her attention by an intruder " ... he doesn't seem to pay attention. Instead, he calls mine to some collectible toy, like a cartoon or movie character (which I knew on waking but have now forgotten)." Mickey Mouse perhaps? And as far as Richard Wilkerson's entry goes, even though he did not select "Pegasus" as the dream telepathy target object, he titled his dream "Magician to Musician"! If that title does not describe Fantasia, I don't know what does! I did occasionally accompany my visualization broadcast with music, but I did not realize this might serve to confuse the issue until the next day, when I rolled the di to pick the other 4 images, and ended up with two music related objects on the final list, the stereo and the saxophone.

A few thoughts and questions. Rita and Richard does the Pegasus image hold a strong association for you to the Fantasia movie, and to magic and Mickey Mouse, or might this association have come primarily from me?

Now I had expected that those who already know me personally would have a significant advantage in "telepathically tuning in" to my broadcast. So it did not surprise me that Rita and Richard, who know me reasonably well, came up with quite good hits. However, I find it interesting and very encouraging! - that by far the best hit came from Dieter, who I have never physically met and know only through a few cyberspace communications. And he did so well - even possibly picking up my rolling of the ten sided di when I made my target selection ("so there were the counts 5 and 6) that I'd say that the prospects for future successful online dream telepathy contests seem very good indeed!

A number of people (Nita and Linda for example) reported getting hits to the other selections, the cactus in particular. This may have occurred by "random chance", if you believe in that, or they may have tuned into the image precognitively. In my experience, when using precognition, people often tune into the image that they personally like the best out of the selections offered, and will ignore the telepathy target image as such. I've done this on a number of occasions - getting a very solid hit - but for the 'wrong" object. And in each case, I liked the "wrong" selection more than any of the others offered! Hermine also chose "Pegasus", but not based on any particular dream, but from daytime imagery. Mary Ann reported a dream of a black Scottie, which might relate to a telepathically received black Pegasus image, but in a somewhat distorted and misidentified form.

Congratulations to all who had the intestinal fortitude not only to participate privately in this event, but to publicly post or send in reports of their dreams. If you enjoyed participating in this event, and would like to see more of the same in the future, please contact the ASD webmaster, Richard Wilkerson at rcwilk@dreamgate.com, or Ed Kellogg at alef1@msn.com

Appendix Dieter's report as posted on the ASD Board before my posting/revealing the identity of actual target image.

Dieter (03-11-2002 0302)

"Hi all,

I'm totally convinced it was #5, pegasus.

When I woke up around 10 am (GMT +1), I searched my memory for "Ed's message". There was something coming up, an image of two ravens fighting, possibly killing each other. I had a feeling that this was it.

When I read Rita's E-Mail listing the images as text descriptions, I was disappointed because the animal was a cow. I was hoping these were not the actual targets, so again I was disappointed when browsing the pictures - until I saw pegasus. To me, it looks like one or two ravens fighting!

To make it worse, another dream popped into my mind. In that dream I was having a very nice conversation with a friend from school. Background We used to write letters and drop them in her bike's basket. The bike's brand was 'pegasus', so we were saying pegasus was delivering our mail.

In a lucid dream of that night, I was growing an additional finger at my right hand as a reality check. I was observing the sensations for all six fingers except the thumb, so there were the counts #5 and 6 - I'd say just a coincidence.

Best wishes,

Dieter"
