SOCIAL NETWORKING SUBCOMMITTEE OFF TO A GREAT START

Due to the increasing importance of social networking tools, such as Facebook, Linked-In, Twitter and YouTube, IASD recently authorized the creation of the Social Networking Joint Subcommittee as a subcommittee of Membership and Advertising/PR. The members of this joint subcommittee are Jody Grundy, Richard Wilkerson, Laura Atkinson, Ryan Hurd, Tamara Gurbis, and PasQuale Ourtane. Jean Campbell and Scott Sparrow are co-chairs.

The creation of the Joint Subcommittee coincided with the launching of IASD’s YouTube Channel where you can view, among other videos, a preview of the film "The Message", which will be part of Joy Fatooh’s presentation at the PsiberDreaming Conference.

Also, be sure to join our Facebook page! We have 250 friends and growing! Please let your Facebook friends know about IASD’s page by posting the url: http://tinyurl.com/2fnwg3r

We will be on Twitter soon!

IASD STUDENT AWARDS FOR DREAM RELATED RESEARCH AND PROJECTS

We are pleased to announce that an anonymous donor who has generously provided funding for the Student Research Award for the past 6 years has graciously agreed to provide matching funds for the 2011 competition! The IASD Board of Trustees will provide the balance of funds.

As in previous years, there will be two $500 awards. The first is for the best student submission of original scientific research on dreams and dreaming. The second is for the best submission of original historical, literary, artistic, or theoretical research. Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to submit papers.

All participants must submit their presentations in electronic form, preferably through email to office@asdreams.org  or if necessary by mailing the files, copied to a CD or a DVD, to the IASD office by March 15, 2011.
IASD-Student Research

Participants may also electronically submit videos in AVI formats, or music in MIDI or MPS formats. In the case of papers with multiple authors --in terms of the ideas presented as well as the description of the results -- the contestant must indicate clearly, in either the text of the paper or in an accompanying letter, what portions are the submitters work.

Submissions must include a copy of your student ID. Alternatively, you can fax a copy to the IASD Office at 1-209-724-0889, or scan and email an attachment to office@asdreams.org Include a note or cover letter that this is for the IASD Student Research Award. Participants must specify for which of the two awards they are applying.

Winners will be announced at the IASD Annual, which will be held at the Rolduc Conference Center in the Netherlands, June 24 - 28, during the General Membership meeting. Check the schedule of conference events to find out the exact date.

Call for Dream Artwork - Deadline:  September 12, 2010

We wish to invite all dreamers who would like to share their dream-inspired artwork to participate in the 9th Annual PsiberDreaming Art gallery. This is an international open call for painters, photographers, conceptual digital graphics, fiber artists, dream doodlers, etc. We are especially interested to see dream based artwork that falls into this year’s PsiberDreaming conference theme: “We are such stuff as dreams are made on.” Keep in mind that this is not a brick and mortar gallery. There’s no need to frame, wire, bang a nail into a wall. This virtual online gallery will be open to PsiberDreaming online conference participants. Our needs are simple: jpeg images (as separate files) of your Dream-based artwork and a text narrative of the dream itself.

The PsiberDreaming Art gallery is always a huge hit for participants and gallery visitors, drawing submissions from professional artists to submissions from those who are making their first attempt in a new medium. Please send .jpg images (as separate files) and text to Laura Atkinson for incorporation into the gallery. Early submissions are encouraged. Dream text MUST accompany all images. Images without dream text will not be considered.

Eligibility: Original artwork in any medium about or inspired by dreams. This is open to ALL professional artists and non-artists. If you have connected artistically to a dream, through imagery, poetry, sketches, photography, or audio, you are welcome to submit your work to be contributed to the gallery.

Limit: Maximum of five (5) images per artist.
A downloadable entry form and rules are available on the PsiberDreaming website: https://asdreams.org/psi2010
Children under the age of 18 must have a parental permission & signature to be included.

Deadline:
Sunday, September 12th, 2010
Due to the increased popularity of the PsiberDreaming Art Gallery, early submissions are highly encouraged. Sorry, but submissions received after September 12th cannot be considered.

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS:
2011 IASD CONFERENCE – ROLDUC, NETHERLANDS

The Venue: The conference will be held at the former monastery of Rolduc, Kerkrade, near the boundary of the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. We request that submissions fall into one of the following tracks: Research & Theory; Arts & Humanities; Culture, Anthropology & History; Education; Religion, Spirituality & Philosophy; Clinical Approaches; Dreamwork Practices; Extraordinary, PSI and Lucid Dreams; and Conference Theme. While the conference is in the Netherlands there are two special themes within the conference theme track: one of them specifically Dutch and the other specifically European. Spotlight on Southern California
By Lauren Schneider , IASD Regional Representative

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, using dreams and my innovative method of tarot (Tarotpy)––for depth psychotherapy and community healing. I opened a new office, The Institute of Dreams and Tarotpy, in May 2009 and love being part of the community of Westlake Village, California. Across from my office is the Center for Spiritual Living where I have given numerous talks on dreams and Tarotpy. On Wednesday, August 4th, 2010, I was invited to do an open discussion about dreams and the movie Inception. I currently offer two dream groups a month for professionals and laypersons––the second Saturday and third Thursday evening, both at my office. I also facilitate a dream group in Malibu. These groups have existed for over ten years, and members bring wisdom from many perspectives. We listen to dreams on behalf of the individual and the greater collective. In late September one of the group members will be hosting a Dream and Healing Salon weekend at her home in the Malibu Hills of California. We will have members share their talents of Equine Healing, Raw Food Cuisine, Yoga and Meditation Practices, Reiki, and of course Dreams and Tarotpy. It is open to the public and IASD members alike.

CONTACTING OTHER MEMBERS IN YOUR AREA

New members often ask if they can get information about other members in their areas. Fortunately, there is a mechanism in place that can help you connect with other members in your area.

First of all, every member is encouraged to create a Member Page, which can include a short bio, contact information, and services offered. To create your own Member Page, and to view the pages of other members, click here. After the page has been created and posted there is some delay between creating the page and being able to view it, because Diana Thompson has to configure it), the member’s name is linked to the World Map, which can be found by clicking here. So if you go to the world map, and click on your area, you will see a list of the members in your area who have created their own Member Pages. By clicking again on the list of members, you will be taken to a list of links to their Member Pages. You can then access their Member Pages, and find out if they have published contact information. (Please note that not all countries are included on the present Membership Map. If your country is not included, please let us know.)

Please create your membership page, especially if you are interested in networking with people looking for members in your area.

REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVES

Jay Vinton has become our Regional Representative for the Northern Virginia area. Thanks, Jay, for volunteering!

UPDATED WEB PAGES

Please check the IASD website for up-to-date names and contact information for the Regional Representative in your area. The Regional Representative Webpage is divided into regions, making your search more user-friendly.

If you do not have a Regional Rep for your area, consider becoming that Rep yourself! You may be the "dream connector" that you and we have been waiting for.

To become a Regional Rep, contact Scott Sparrow, Membership Chair: kingfisher@lagunamadre.net
